I’ve been through a couple of CNCs over the years, but devices like the Shapeoko 5 Pro are now becoming really accessible utilities – they’ve solved so many of the technical quirks and challenges, so you can really easily get into CNC machining.
They’re obviously amazing for intricate carving and crafting signs, but they also excel at sheer accuracy and repeatability – so this is now my ‘go to’ method of creating drawers and cabinets. I have parametric files (happy to share if you buy one!) and I can just enter the widths, heights and depths of drawers. The Shapeoko then relentlessly cuts all the pieces I need for 10-20 drawers with <0.1mm accuracy every time. Gamechanger for workshops.
